Smokey

James Edwin Davis, Jr. Smokey to all who knew him was born on May 14, 1949 and died August 19, 2008. He died of a massive heart attack. He was 59 years old. Too young and too much alive to be here one minute and gone the next. It was quite a shock. We all miss you Big Smoke. Please help me to remember him and share in the treasure of those memories by responding with your thoughts and comments.

I was very shocked when I heard the news of Smokey's death and I immediatley thought of you. I enjoyed our Forestry Festival planning meeting at Smokey's Cabin and especially his GREAT COOKING!!! I can almost still taste his food to this day even though it's been a while. His cabin was also so unique both inside and out. He was a great person and I pray for you and Smokey's family as you face the days ahead. Wendy

Thank you Wendy. It has been very hard. Hard to imagine that Smokey is dead. He was a great cook, and he was always such a good host.
You take care and remember all of us in your prayers. Be good to Wendy.

Oh my dear friend, my heart breaks for you. It is so devastating when a loved one is taken Home suddenly. I am praying for our Heavenly Father who knows your grief to bless, strengthen, and uplift you. May you find joy in the happy memories of Smokey until you see him in Heaven someday. Praise the Lord we have the confidence that to be "absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" -- this promise was made by our Savior Himself, and His Word is always true! Smokey is undoubtedly waiting for you to join him, so y'all can have more adventures together in that beautiful perfect place where there are no more tears. Love, Shan
